Blue Sprinkle Donut
Below is a step-by-step guide for creating the Blue Sprinkle Donut figurine using our air-dry clay kit:
Materials & Colors Needed:
- Brown and Skin-colored Clay – For the donut base.
- Blue Clay – For the icing.
- White Clay – For the drizzle on top.
- Multi-Colored Clay – For the small sprinkle dots (e.g., pink, yellow, purple, etc.).
- Basic Sculpting Tool or Toothpick – For shaping and attaching pieces.

1. Create the Donut Base
Step 1:
Condition the Clay: Mix together the skin-colored clay with the brown clay to create a light brown base.
Step 2:
Shape a Disk: Roll it into a ball, then gently flatten into a circular donut shape about 1–2 cm thick.

2. Add the Blue Icing
Step 1:
Flatten Blue Clay: Roll or press it into a thin circle slightly larger than the donut’s top surface.

Step 2:
Place the Icing: Lay the blue circle over the donut base. Gently press and trim any excess around the edges.

Step 3:
Make the Center Hole: Use a toothpick or a pen, or just your finger to poke a hole in the middle. Widen it slightly to get the classic donut look.

3. Make the White Drizzle
Step 1:
Roll a Thin Snake of white clay. Try to maintain the same thickness overall.

Step2:
Shape a Wavy Line: Place it on top of the blue icing in a curvy or zigzag pattern.

4. Add Colorful Sprinkles
Step 1:
Pinch Off Tiny Bits of multi-colored clay and roll them into small balls.

Step2:
Scatter Them on the Icing: Press them gently so they stay in place. Decorate as you wish.

5. Refine the Details
Smooth Any Rough Spots: Use your finger or a bit of water (for air-dry clay) if there are cracks.
Adjust Placement: Make sure the drizzle and sprinkles look balanced.
6. Let It Dry
Air-Dry Clay: Place your figurine in a cool, dry spot for 24-48 hours.
7. Optional Finishing Touches
- Seal or Varnish: Once dry, apply a clear sealant or varnish if you want extra durability or a glossy finish.
- Add Color: You can paint extra details or add a dusting of pastel chalk for shading.
Tips & Tricks
- Prevent Flattening: Keep some thickness to the donut for a realistic 3D shape.
- Experiment with Colors: Try different icing colors or drizzle patterns.
- Store Unused Clay: Seal leftover clay in an airtight container to prevent it from drying out.
Enjoy crafting your sweet, colorful donut figurine—it’s a fun, creative project that’s perfect for decorations, gifts, or just a sweet addition to your clay collection!
